I had an old version of GE's built in water filter and liked it (lasted about 4-5 years, used a lot by a family of 6). This version feels very cheap - the pivoting part above the sink is all plastic and feels flimsy. I don't expect this to last very long in our busy household. I can also see that turning the main tap filter on and off is not the best idea - every time a child (or anyone else) forgets to turn it back to the "off" position, the next person using the sink will use the filtered water (often for hand washing or other things that don't require filtered water) so I'm assuming actual filters won't last very long. I'll probably replace that whole filter system, not the filter.
