High quality product

I'm buying this mount to mount my new phone on the handlebars of a motorbike. The mount looks like it could withstand a direct nuclear strike. It's made of durable aluminum and I'd say it's moderately light. The locking mechanism has a simple and elegant design. The range of motion is only slightly restricted by slots in the ball clamp. If you want to adjust the mount to awkward and extreme angles, check out another RAM mount. However, the range corresponds to the position I want. If you plan on installing this on a surface you don't want to scratch, I recommend using masking tape. I managed to scratch the handlebars a bit while adjusting the mount. I wouldn't consider this a lack of attachment, but a natural hazard for this type of device. The Rammount website is very helpful. I took the parts there first and then searched Amazon for a combination of parts by part number. The website has a handy configurator to select the desired combination of mounts for each task. In my case, I put in the year, make and model of the motorcycle, and the type of cell phone I'm buying. The results showed two cell phone holders. The configurator did not make it clear that the two mounts are options. One mount was a waterproof box, the other a fingertip. I bought both thinking the finger mount holds the waterproof box. It took me a few minutes to realize that I only needed one mount. This is not a problem as I am so impressed with the Ram products that I will be buying another finger mount base and using it in the car. The power of Ram products is that they are extremely modular. The parts are designed to work together in a variety of applications. In summary, I highly recommend this mount in particular and Ram products in general.
