This product works BETTER than I expected. This is not your typical smelly semi-dangerous acid product. It has a very faint odor. I used gloves because I didn't think it would be hand safe (it definitely is). For a partial restoration of a fully original 44 year old bike, I needed something softer than the typical acid products I've used before. Many of the parts I wanted to derust are no longer available and I didn't want to damage irreplaceable parts. I bought a gallon to make sure I could cover some parts well in an old plastic litter box I had. $22 seemed steep, but not a gallon. Heck, 16 ounces of sea jelly will set you back $8. It's a gallon and it's REUSABLE. Yes, just gently pour back into the gallon container leaving some sediment behind and you save 90% of the product for reuse. Wonderful. So does it work? YES - works better than I expected. The original chain on this bike is interchangeable but I wanted the original. How do I know this is the original chain? I bought the bike new in 1974. Although this trials bike has been in storage for almost 20 years, it has not run 100 hours. And yet the chain was COVERED with rust. The links moved but were literally covered in rust on the sides. I soaked the chain in diesel fuel for several days, shaking it in the container every few hours. Washed under pressure and cleaned of all diesel fuel. It's gotten a lot better and the links are fine but took about 24 hours to rust out the fumes, took it out at the 12 o'clock mark and scrubbed it under water with a stiff brush. Everything was fine at 12pm to be honest, but I left it and it looked really new. Soak in HOT Mobil 1 overnight and this chain will be like new. I have been here for a long time. You will not be disappointed.
