Review on Canitu 10Pieces Tungsten Carbide Grinding by Jose Pacyga

Set of 20 Tungsten Carbide Burrs 3mm - 1/8 " Shank Single Cut Small Burrs 3mm - 1/8 " Shank

I work with metals as a hobby and often use tungsten carbide (TC) burrs to smooth and shape the workpiece. This is a set of 20 small single edge carbide and/or HSS burrs with 1/8" shanks for use in my rotary tool. The head size is small from 2.7mm to a maximum diameter of 8mm depending on Nozzle and shape - see listing. Listing has great close-up shots of head profiles. See pics 1 and 2 of set. When zoomed in, they don't look like super quality beats, more like a series of 'significant lines' ". Please note they fit freely in a small ziplock plastic bag; TC is brittle and stacked together in a bag this is bad for sharpness and burr edge retention. I didn't like it. The listing title mentions "Tungsten Carbide" (TC) but the listing material says "High Speed Steel" (HSS). They're more like HSS to me. Minus one star. I considered them TC but they might not be .They are best met with soft jewelry all such as silver, gold or platinum as well as brass, copper and softer metals. The service life of the burrs is increased through the use of wax lubrication. They can be used on ferrous metals, but the life of burrs can be shortened even if they are made of tungsten carbide, and their small size limits their suitability for machining cemented carbides. On softer metals with light pressure at high speed and lubricating wax is fine. They can also be used to mold plastic. They are quite small and therefore much more brittle than larger cutters. TS is brittle and mostly inflexible. LIGHT PRESSURE at high speed is the key to using them! I would not use them on wood due to the additional heat generation and removal of shavings due to natural wood sap formation, although the seller lists wood as one of the materials they can be used on. The ridges are roughly single so they may be suitable for wood. I don't do this type of work, so I can't say for sure. Rotating tool bits throw up particles at high speeds and can cause injury if safety equipment is not used. Safety above all! I recommend (four stars) this set of Canitu 20 piece rotary burrs with a limited endorsement. For fine detail work, the set contains a large selection of small burrs at a good price. Quality, material uncertainty and packaging deduct a star. I hope you found the information and my review helpful.
