I just received this small fridge. I put a cold glass in and plugged the device into an outlet. I measure the outside temperature (80 degrees) and let it work for three hours. When I measured the temperature of the glass, it was 50 degrees. This coincides with the manufacturer's specification of a temperature drop of 30 degrees below ambient temperature. I let it run all night and took the temperature again. It was 45 degrees, which in turn corresponds to the manufacturer's specification. I assume that if the contents of this device were "icy", the ambient temperature would not have to exceed 65 degrees. In practice, one should not expect more than a "cool” drink. RENEW AFTER USE The manufacturer says "up to 32 degrees below ambient temperature". That means if it's 80 F outside you can only expect it to cool down to (80-32 = 48 F). I've made sure it's true. This is not a refrigerator as the minimum temperature for safe food storage is 40 F or less. Do not attempt to use it as a "fridge" unless the outside temp is above 72 F. I tried it this summer to chill drinks when the outside temp was 75-80 and drinks to my liking were not were cold enough, they were hardly cool. This is a limitation of the thermoelectric technology, not the manufacturer. I could see this being used in an air conditioned office with a temperature of 70-72 F. Update July 2018: The seller contacted me and was concerned that I was not satisfied and offered a refund. It's impressive that they are interested and want to do well. I see this product useful in the office or where the ambient temperature is 70 degrees or colder. So while the cooler is not suitable for my application, it may well be suitable for other applications. It's nice to know that the seller supports their product!
