Review on Efficient and Stylish: Allen Sports Premier Aluminum 1-Child Jogger in Red (Model J1) by David Norwood

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Feels solid, solid frame, good hinges, solid wheels, first review

Date of Use: 6/14/19 I am not being paid to write this review. I ran down the street with him. I am not a runner but this product is for my wife. I'll update this product review with more uses, but here's my impression so far. Pros: 1. looks cool 2. the frame seems strong3. Wheels feel nice and strong, inflate up to 35psi4. Installing the rear wheel was very easy. Assembling the front wheels is easy if you know how to ride a regular bike6. Adjusting the brakes was easy once you knew how to ride a regular bike7. Easily adjustable strap 8. Safety mechanism when folding on the right side9. Folds and opens easily easy10. Lightweight for strollers11. Easy to maneuver while running. It's difficult when you stand still and try to turn the stroller. Apparently! Disadvantages1. The brakes on the rear wheels could be easier to release, maybe like a sidecar2. Will not fold fully if wheels stay in place. Overall: This product seems nice and durable even though it's made in China, but what's wrong these days? In general, its use seems very simple. Don't expect it to be folded into a small package to put under your airplane seat. It folds up well enough for runners, especially with the huge 16-inch wheels. If you have an SUV and want to go jogging, this shouldn't be a problem. If you have a sedan or coupe you will need to remove some or all of the wheels to fit. Luckily my wife and I drive SUVs. The hinges for the sunroof are pleasant to the touch and stable. The material also feels comfortable. I like the overall design because it is very simple yet looks sleek and elegant. Allen Sports could upgrade its seatbelts by adding padding instead of regular straps, but obviously that could increase both cost and weight. Carrying on the bottom is good enough for a water bottle, towel, and small essentials. You're going for a run, not a Himalayan trek, so what else do you need to take with you? Again, this reduces the cost and weight of the product. I'm happy with the aluminum frame as it keeps the weight down. It should survive a head-on collision, but this isn't an everyday car. If they want to make an item lighter and stronger, they can make a carbon fiber frame, but in this case you have to expect an extra charge of at least $500. The height adjustment knob lever is pretty standard, nothing to complain or rave about. The handbrakes were easy to adjust once you know how to steer and adjust a real bike. The brakes on the front wheel should be checked regularly, as always before the run, to ensure they are tight and not rubbing. This can cause the front wheels to deform over time. However, I am not sure how often you will actually use the brakes as you can just stop running or slow down and the runner will also slow down and stop. I will be using it for a month or two and will update this review.
