NOT compatible with MacBook Pro/Air! Don't buy until they fix it!

I bought it for my wife along with a new MacBook Air (2018) for Mother's Day, thinking the USB-C ultrawide monitor and MacBook Air would be a perfect match. I was completely wrong. DO NOT BUY A U3419W AND MACBOOK PRO/AIR SET WITHOUT READING THE REST OF THIS REVIEW! The whole point of owning a USB-C monitor should be that you only need one cable going from the USB-C laptop to the monitor to transmit the video. /data/ and power. This works fine with a MacBook Air until the laptop goes to sleep. There is a kind of loop when the laptop goes to sleep, when the monitor wakes up the MacBook Air, the MacBook Air beeps like it was just plugged in. , the monitor turns on but shows no signal and then goes back to sleep. This loop happens every 1-5 minutes and you will see your monitor turn on and here your MacBook Pro/Air will beep every time. After scouring the web I found this to be a common issue on Dell's own support site and on Reddit. . I recommended a friend to go down this route at the same time (he bought a new MacBook Pro) and he reported the same issue. If you look at Dell's customer support site, they don't care if you have a MacBook Pro/Air. They keep claiming that they don't test compatibility with Apple laptops at all. It's crazy and negligent to sell a USB-C monitor and only ignore Apple laptops with USB-C/Thunderbolt 3. At least on their website, they don't seem to care that it affects people who buy those $800 monitors. That one problem makes the combination of the two products useless β€” unless you want to completely turn off your monitor every time you leave. from him (at this point the MacBook Pro / Air will stop charging). I've called Dell customer service (they say their monitor is fine) and I've called Apple customer service (they don't seem to know anything about this issue either). If I can't get them to work within the return period, I will replace this monitor. It's also a huge shame because outside of that issue it seems to be a really good monitor - but it's like you bought a new car and the car keeps turning on and off because you changed the tyres. would like to change this review if Dell can solve this problem. But as it is, I would give it 0 stars if possible. Super screwed up.
