I shoot videos (and therefore only speak from that point of view) with a Canon Rebel T2i and bought this lens as an upgrade for my Canon 50 f1.8 II. Initially I was going to buy the Canon 50mm 1.2L, but after watching numerous video samples I settled on the Zeiss instead. What impressed me the most along those lines was the Zeiss color rendering. Canon is more red while Zeiss is more natural. The bokeh is amazing and even at f/1.4 this lens is incredibly sharp. As stated in the product description, this lens also copes very well with overexposed backgrounds; Ghosting has been a big problem since 1.8 II, but now it's not a problem! The build quality of this lens is second to none. It's solidly built and I particularly appreciate the fact that the lens hood was metal; Maybe it's a superficial moment, but it's the little details like this that show the attention to every detail.
