As a collector of Macs that have been classified as 'vintage' or 'obsolete' by Apple, I can say that this great value Cables that have improved the maintenance process for both my PowerBook G4 and my 27" iMac, which is the main reason I bought the cable. The second reason - a used LaCie D2 Quadra case with lots of ports including FireWire 800 - came to mind few days after i ordered the cable already in. After taking the cable out of the box and connecting it to the above computers and hard drive, the drive responded almost immediately.Copying 14GB of data took 5-10 minutes while it 15-20 minutes with FireWire 400 and over an hour with USB With Target Disk Mode enabled by holding down "T". e, while turning on my Mac, I can quickly and easily back up my PowerBook or transfer data without opening the PowerBook lid and damaging anything. All in all a very good cheap cable. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who needs a FireWire 800 cable but doesn't already have one or needs a replacement.
