I would like to give 5 stars for my use after replacing the controller and 3 stars for using the included controller which barely uses the lights themselves. , I cut off the controller and soldered the wires to the D1 Mini ESP32 controller board ($5), flashed the WLED firmware (google it) and the IR receiver diode for the remote control (optional, $0.10). Now I have a computer and phone app to control it and a remote with buttons set the way I want it. If you can do some simple soldering and search the internet you can do this. The lights are in a nice little matte plastic ball which makes them softer than many others. Most of the time I run them at their lower power level. They are usually too bright for bad mood lighting (poking, winking, winking, saying nothing else) anyway and I often set them so that they only light up every 5th. Drive 2 strings perfectly from a powerful USB power supply. A pair of strings made a great perimeter for our bedroom. When I try to run them at full power white the voltage drops over distance and they turn yellowish. For most use cases and color models this is invisible.
