Review on πŸ„ DolfinPack: Lightweight, Waterproof Hydration Pack for Extreme Sports - Form-Fitting Design by James Womble

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not suitable for running, the material does not withstand intensive use.

Topline: Comfortable hydration pack that's great for hiking but doesn't stand up to the rigors of trail running Good: They don't lie when they say this thing is comfortable. The neoprene material is far superior in comfort to the canvas/nylon of your typical CamelBak or similar hydration pack. Wearing shirtless for a long time is not neat enough - you will still have hot spots. But it couldn't be better for a walk or a leisurely hike. And it's definitely minimalist: With a full hydration bladder, you might have room on the pack for a Clif bar and keys, but no more. If you want to carry water and nothing else, then this is your backpack. Cons: I'll start at the beginning and work my way up - the lack of an additional strap closer to the waist makes this pack prone to bounce, especially when the hydration bladder is full most of the time. If you're using it for kinetic activities like running (especially hilly trails), the pack will bounce up and down non-stop, forcing you to hold it as tightly as possible to avoid chafing and general irritation/distractions. Jumping also has the unfortunate side effect of destroying all external parts of the bag where the fabric meets (e.g. where the shoulder straps connect to the main backpack, etc.). I've used this pack half a dozen times, including two long runs; You can see the results in the photos. My bag has rips wherever the neoprene has come loose to reveal the straps underneath. Other: As mentioned before, if you are a short person, this pack may not be small enough for you. . As a 5ft 11in male weighing 165lbs wearing a size 39 jacket, I wear the pack's chest straps fully closed so that the bottom Velcro is not visible. Part of the strap dangles in the wind. Of course, I wear it tight to avoid bumps when running.
