Review on πŸ”Œ Logitech Harmony RF Wireless Extender: Discontinued Exceptional Connectivity Solution by Kim Kawana

Works as expected, with a delay

We use the extender in conjunction with the Logitech 1100 remote. This allows the remote to be used in installations where the AV device is not in line of sight of the remote: behind closet doors, in another room, etc. The extension cord converts a radio frequency (RF) signal (which is omnidirectional and penetrates walls) from the remote control into an infrared (IR) signal (invisible beam of light) that all remote AV equipment uses. The extension cable can be installed directly in front of the audio/video device, e.g. B. on a nearby wall, piece of furniture or in an equipment closet door; or it can be installed with the included signal cables. The ends of these wires connect to each audio/video device directly at the point where it receives remote signals. The main disadvantage of this method is that 1) these small wires go to each piece of hardware, usually the bottom front corner, and 2) these wires are sometimes not long enough to be routed neatly behind and around the device. Mechanism. The Logitech user manual recommends using cables whenever possible. Once everything is set up and configured with the Logitech software, the setup works great, with a small but annoying quirk between pressing a command on the remote and the hardware responding to that command (presumably since the signal goes to the power strip first have to go). , then converted from RF to IR and then sent back to the AV device). We have a DVR in our system and it can be difficult to fast forward commercials; It's easy to reshoot a commercial and then return to the beginning of a continuing program. But in general, Extender can solve these difficult installation problems.
