Wireless RF Extender Fairly nice addition

If you have a Harmony 1000, this is a very good way to get the most out of its many features. It works very well if you follow the sometimes complicated instructions with the Harmony 1000. I haven't yet determined if it's the extension cord or a remote control fault, but there are times when using the remote control that my Tivo and DirecTV PVR are getting incorrect or multiple signals. In other words, it's as if you pressed the function key two or three times. If you want to control your TV…

Works as expected, with a delay

We use the extender in conjunction with the Logitech 1100 remote. This allows the remote to be used in installations where the AV device is not in line of sight of the remote: behind closet doors, in another room, etc. The extension cord converts a radio frequency (RF) signal (which is omnidirectional and penetrates walls) from the remote control into an infrared (IR) signal (invisible beam of light) that all remote AV equipment uses. The extension cable can be installed directly in front of…

Don't go without! A must for Harmony 1100!

I asked for (and got) a Harmony 1100 for my birthday. As a techie, I expected the module to be programmed in a more general (and probably more complex) way and wasn't sure at first if I wanted to keep it. As the flexibility of the device began to emerge, allowing me to easily "fix" issues left over from auto-tuning (e.g. getting the exact DSP tuning I wanted on my AV receiver) , my interest grew. Over the course of several days as I learned to program the device, I became more and more…

Fixed bugs - on some units

I was a little wary of purchasing the 890 that comes with the RF extender based on several reviews showing how difficult it was to find the extender to disconnect the device for reprogramming . IR modules and power cords now have connectors to connect to the base unit, so they can now be easily disconnected. Previous reviews have suggested that's not the case, so it looks like Logitech is listening! As mentioned in many places, the documentation is pretty much useless. For example, to a…

Works great on Mac and PC with the latest firmware

The Logitech Harmony RF Wireless Extender lets you control your RF-equipped Harmony remote (890, 895 or the new 1000) without using it IR line of sight components. The Harmony 890 includes an RF wireless extender, but unfortunately the Harmony 1000 does not. Make no mistake, this device is an absolute REQUIREMENT for any large room or complex facility. In my configuration, the Harmony 1000 didn't have the power to power all of my components over IR from 20 feet away. The HF Extender solved this

Pros
  • Useful for more than its intended purpose
Cons
  • Has bug
