Don't go without! A must for Harmony 1100!

I asked for (and got) a Harmony 1100 for my birthday. As a techie, I expected the module to be programmed in a more general (and probably more complex) way and wasn't sure at first if I wanted to keep it. As the flexibility of the device began to emerge, allowing me to easily "fix" issues left over from auto-tuning (e.g. getting the exact DSP tuning I wanted on my AV receiver) , my interest grew. Over the course of several days as I learned to program the device, I became more and more adventurous. The result was quite amazing - now I had simple controls at my fingertips to do things that were too complicated to waste time with 4 remote controls to do by hand - especially for my wife who was having a really hard time Get through the maze of hundreds of remote control buttons. to perform a simple task like listening to satellite radio without turning on the TV etc. Now that I've convinced myself this solves the problem of controlling my AV system really easily, including special icon buttons for my favorite TV channels and satellite radio channels ( downloaded and imported from the web), I was left with a small problem. It is necessary to align the device carefully so that everything receives the IR messages. This is a problem as the cabinet can easily interfere with where I am and where the IR sensor is on the 6 controlled devices. I heard WiFi was available so I looked for this product. After reading some reviews about Revain I realized this is what I need and bought it. The main problem I had was figuring out where the IR sensor is on each device. Some of them weren't obvious at all. I finally figured it out by sticking a cardboard card between the unit and the remote to locate the location behind the plastic panel. Once I did that everything worked like magic (first I had the wrong sensor placement due to a wrong diagram in the manual and it was unreliable - once I figured out why it worked fine when I was right in front of the unit - IR - Radiation was reflected from me to the sensor at the other end of the device - I was able to fix the problem). It works like magic! My wife can now listen to classical music through the satellite receiver whenever she wants, or watch her favorite channel without opening it, play DVD movies or select movies on DVR, stream movies from Netflix, listen to CDs, etc. with Wii and I play You don't have to show her which button to press. Even pull out the appropriate tray (CD or DVD) to load so she doesn't get confused about which block to load! MARVELOUS! If you have a remote control mess, like I do with multiple remotes, that is too confusing for those who aren't techies in your family, this product combined with the Harmony remote is a fantastic solution. A hell of a lot better than the so-called universal remotes I've tried in the past (which require you to "switch" from one device to another before pressing the buttons). And of course you can impress your friends. :)
