This is thin plastic but with well-fitting elasticated corners. We have a quality solid oak table with genuine leather pockets. We got the wine box because the felt is the same color - a nice, classy look! Even though the table is 8ft long we have a 9ft cover to go down each end and keep the pockets dust free (and the balls in them if we leave them in the pockets where they were in the last game landed). If I had one of those desks with built in pockets, I would adjust the size of the desk. We really wanted this cover to keep out dust - a constant problem with pool tables - and it does the job perfectly. What. We have a fancier (patterned) cotton tie-dye fabric that we put on when we want to dress it up. Thing is, this rich wine color looks good enough for most situations, and when friends drop by, the lid falls off. I recommend!
