Review on True Utility FireLite Lighter Flashlight by Joe Clayton

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Swings and slides for me

I wanted to love this product but it just feels like two poorly designed pieces stuck together. The flashlight has a short end which means it uses button cell batteries. That means you have no way of charging it, and batteries are harder to find than AAA batteries or the like. The lighter doesn't hold much fuel and the firing pin is tiny making it difficult to flick and fire. And the overall handling is very crisp - you can feel it grinding as you unscrew both sides. But the worst thing (IMO) is that the o-rings aren't done right. The o-ring needs a groove so it can be squeezed between two surfaces without crushing. This sits exactly at the lower edge of the plug-in area. If you tighten it enough (it's very easy to do) the o-ring will "pull out" the side and actually create a leak.

Pros
  • Very good value
Cons
  • Unbelievable price
