Review on πŸ”Œ SKIL SRT1039 Portable Benchtop Router Table by Michael Welborn

ok with some issues

I have mixed feelings about this table (new SKIL SRT1039), I bought it to see if I can adapt the table to the Ridgid Router 22002 (also applies for model 29303 for all practical points) First of all good: 1) Pleasantly surprised that the PLATE has pre-drilled holes for several routers (this is not mentioned anywhere in Skil WEB, nor in the table description) I even call SKIL and ask if it supports will whether other routers (except Skil), and they say NO, according to the instructions, the following routers are supported: SKIL RT1322 and RT1323, MasterCraft 054-6821-2 and 054-6908 / Maximum 054-6810 /MasterForce/Performax/Bosh / Porter- Cable / Hitachi / Dewalt / Ridgid (See attached copy of instructions for details). It fit perfectly on my ridgid, just had to drill a hole for the HIGH Ajusment so I could do it from the top, no big deal. 2) Has a standard T-slot for mitering. 3) two springs included 4) the fence is pretty good considering the price. 5) Storage space on both sides for bits and other stuff) only comes with two (2) adapters for some reason, there should be 4 shelves so you can have two on each side so I made two out of plywood 1/ 4 inches) BAD : 1) Fence does not include a T-rail for the TOP, I was able to adjust it and it works fine, see picture. 2) The hole for the router bits allowed no more than 2 inches to be inserted. Disadvantage, every router table has to be at least 2 1/2 bits wide or more and I personally don't see any reason for that in this table. and therefore 3 stars 3) The design of the fence makes Rockler's Micro Aguster very difficult to use, I manage to fit one and it works, but Skil could do better. Overall, this is a good spreadsheet, but the user should be aware of its limitations and be prepared to make some improvements. I would recommend it to any beginner and even serious DIY enthusiast, but someone wanting to do more serious work might be better off getting a better or more professional Kreg-type unit.

Cons
