Weak and installation instructions questionable

As other reviews have mentioned, this is fairly flimsy aluminum - I welded the corners at an angle which helped maintain structural integrity. Low-temp aluminum soldering rods and a propane torch also work. Like the other reviewer, I glued washers to the inside of the blinds as otherwise they would be too light and end up dangling around. - Again, like the other reviewer, I installed an aluminum screen in the window and secured it with foil tape. I also added more seals. There is already a gasket to seal each fin, this could work if the fins were thicker and better shaped, but they are so brittle and irregularly shaped that they don't make good contact with the existing O-ring. The more serious problem is that the instructions really need to be followed very loosely. They suggest that you frame the square with a 2x4 that has 19-3/4" inside dimensions. Then, from the inside, drill holes in each corner of this through hole. The goal is to use those holes to make 19-3/ 4. " the size of the cut line on the outside of the structure. They then force you to frame a second square with 2x4, this time with 19-3/4" outside dimensions (with the intent that it match the previous one) . Then they cut through the siding and sheathing, exposing this inner square frame. This is really idiotic as you are removing more of the inner shell than necessary. Instead, create just a second square with an outside width/height of 19-3/4 inches. Drill the inside corners to create the cutting line. On the outside, cut through the fairing and shroud along this cutting line. Insert the shutter into the hole and mark a new cutting line around the outside of the edges of the shutter. Along this cut line, remove only the trim, exposing just enough of the inner trim to allow the slat edge to fit snugly. Bolts and sealant as specified.
