I had previously installed a similar unit with an attic fan but it had worn out over the years as the blades would bang against the locking pins and eventually get stuck in the open position. I sealed the blinds with duct tape but it was starting to look sticky. Low-temp aluminum soldering rods and a propane torch also work.
