Firstly I didn't even get a remote control with mine. When I placed the order I didn't even know it was going to come with one so I wasn't too concerned. Oh well. This tripod worked great for about 2 days during my vacation. The legs are very posable and look very well built. I've been able to attach this to a number of different things with great success. The design and construction of the mount that holds your phone seems like a whole different story. I don't know if this was intentional or not, but in fact 2 mounts (the part that physically holds your phone) were included in my box. I thought it was weird until my first one broke. Ooooh, that's why they offer a backup. I went back to work for a few hours until the part just above the ball joint broke in half and pulled my phone out. Needless to say, there was no backup for this. I don't feel like I was too rough on this item, but looking back I wish I could have treated it more like a delicate flower as breaking really affected my options. to record what I wanted to do on vacation. I think that the part you attach your phone to shouldn't be spring loaded, it should be loosened and tightened by hand. This may be more cumbersome and take a few extra seconds, but this change reduces stress on the item and makes it less prone to breakage. Cycle your phone or you'll end up with something useless very quickly.
