Review on Corsair Dominator Platinum 128GB (8X16GB) DDR4 2666MHz C15 Desktop Memory by Alejandro White

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Not compatible with Ryzen

I had to read the Ryzen memory compatibility forums. They are made for Intel processors. I have version 5 where Hynix dies. My PC with Ryzen 7 2700X processor and Gigabyte X470 AORUS Ultra Gaming motherboard does not boot with XMP profile installed. The best I could get was 2733MHz and 15-15-15-36 at 1.2 volts and 2933MHz and 15-15-15-35 at 1.35 volts (I had to check the DRAM voltage and the CAS - Set timings manually). So if you have a Ryzen processor, get 3200 CL14 or faster with Samsung B-Die. However, this RAM is better than the CORSAIR DOMINATOR 2666 CL15, which costs $15 more than this for 32GB (I bought mine for $400 for the 32GB kit). I desperately needed 64GB, so I had to buy two 32GB kits (I bought one first, then ordered another after making sure that RAM would work with my system). Luckily, both kits run together at 2733MHz at 1.2V and 2933MHz at 1.35V. This RAM is far from perfect, but it works great. My PassMark memory score at 2933MHz was 2450 with 58ns latency, which is pretty good for the price. One star deduction because the XMP profile doesn't work with my Gigabyte X470 and Ryzen 7 2700X motherboard.
