I've used pre-made furniture protectors (round discs of various types for carpet or hardwood floors) and really liked them. . I've moved to a place with bamboo hardwood floors (IF YOU HAVE A CHOICE DO NOT USE THESE FLOORS as they scratch much more easily than others I've had) which, as mentioned, scratch too easily. So I have a lot of bookshelves (I love books and places for things) but I was afraid that if accidentally moved they would scratch the floor and in order to move I would have to empty them. So she looked and took a little time to figure out the best way to cut (had a block of wood and a razor blade). Basically, I just turned the bookshelves on their side, laid one of the felt sheets on the floor where I needed it, marked it with a pencil, and then cut it off with a razor blade. I scrubbed the bottom of the shelves with a stiff dish sponge and then wiped them down with a rag before applying the felt (just peel and stick the backing). They have held up very well and now, even loaded with books and objects, I can move them around to clean and rearrange rooms. THANK YOU X PROTECTOR!
