I have a dog and live between two families with dogs. To one side are two young dogs (a labrador and a terrier) who bark non-stop every time I walk into the back yard and they will keep barking as long as I'm outside! The lab is even trying to gnaw through the mesh of the fence and get past me. On the other side of my house, two young pit bulls are doing the same thing. When I first used this thing the two pups immediately stopped barking and retreated to their deck. After three uses, they are now under control and no longer disturbing. When I go outside, they come and sit quietly at their door. Pitbulls, on the other hand, do not respond to the device at all. If anything, it might actually annoy her and make her a little more excited. My 10 year old dog shows no signs of hearing him at all so I can see he has lost some of his hearing. I definitely recommend this purchase. .
