Don't expect the best amp you will ever buy. But for the price, it's just a great option.

This device is clearly not designed to punch through more than a couple of door speakers. So many people are having trouble with the amp and it seems many of them are using it incorrectly. It is not intended to be bypassed and used to power a subwoofer. It is designed to slightly amplify the door speakers compared to the stock amplifier in the main unit. I also read a lot of reviews about loud engine noise. I had this problem too. This problem is usually caused by several reasons: 1) Poor grounding causing the main unit to send a bad signal to the amp (this has been tested by connecting the phone directly to the amp and there is no interference) - can also occur when the main unit is cheap, also known as "double". 2) Gain too high. I fixed these problems by setting the gain so low that I couldn't hear the engine howl and installing a built in ground loop isolator. After that, the head unit had to be configured in such a way that it produced as much sound as possible. After setting everything up and replacing the cheap dual-head unit with a Pioneer, I was able to tweak the sound. to get the amp to push my door speakers as loud as possible. To avoid distortion, I used a crossover setting in the head unit to take all the bass out of the door speakers. I have two 12 inch speakers on the back which easily make up for this lack of bass and give me really good and loud sound. I'm very happy as long as the amp works. Don't expect this thing to be the best amp you've ever bought. It's not like this. But for the price, it's a fantastic option for getting more out of an aftermarket door speaker.

Pros
  • Variable Gain Control - Gain control is not intended for volume control. It simply adjusts the strength of the signal coming from the receiver and going to the amplifier.
Cons
  • Null
