Amazingly strong and light CF tripod.

When I went crazy and ordered a ridiculously expensive 500mm f/4 telephoto lens, I knew I was going to need a much more powerful tripod and that was it. The legs are large in diameter and made of thick tubing. I prefer the rotary collet leg adjustment to flip locks. Setup is quick and painless. The bowl adjusts smoothly and tightens firmly. There is a hook under the flat pan for hanging the weight but not for the bowl. It came with a very nice durable soft case, don't know about the ball head attached but it's long enough for a small fluid head or small 3 track and definitely not long enough for a gimbal. So it looks like I'll take the trailer head separately. (For comparison, my Manfroto 290 CF came with a thin bag that could be carried around with a drawstring, reminiscent of a cheap reusable grocery bag with no handles.) As is common these days, the bladder is much smaller than the reference ring to make it almost unusable. (The eye is an excellent comparator, but it's poor at judging distances, so the bubble should be almost as big as the ring.) Not critical as I have different circular bubbles and my camera has a suitable built-in electronic sensor. even. I have no regrets for not spending a penny on Gitzo or RRS sticks.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Really don't like it, everything's fine
