Review on πŸ” USB 3.0 Switch Selector: Share 4 USB Devices between 2 Computers with Hotkey and Mouse Switching - Includes 2 Pack USB Cable by Omar Gonzales

Good product bad instructions

I use this switch to connect a mechanical keyboard to both a custom Windows 10 PC case and a 2020 Mac Mini and neither machine has trouble connecting recognizing keystrokes. I'm thankful that this little device has a hotkey feature that seems rare among other switches sold on Revain. No doubt I know I'd get tired of using a physical button to switch ports, especially since I tend to start both machines at the same time, so the hotkey feature was a must. That being said, the little guide that came with this switch specifically stated that the basic hotkey command to toggle between two ports uses the right "ctrl" key, which certainly wasn't the case for me. It took some frustration, but I finally figured out that it was my "fn" key instead of "ctrl" that was being used to switch ports. This feature could definitely be included in the instructions in one sentence, saving me the guesswork and the tendency to think I might have caught a bad block. By design, this device is just a plastic box, but I assemble it. Vision, so durability shouldn't be a factor in its success and longevity. I usually avoid products with a lot of "Product Without Vine" reviews, but I counted on buying this one - again because it actually had a hotkey - and luckily it does its main job well. I'll definitely update this review if anything goes wrong, but hopefully it doesn't. [Edited same day]: I've found that the included USB cable plugged into the Mac Mini freezes the Logitech Universal Receiver plugged into the adjacent USB slot on this mouse very frequently. Unplugging the USB cable fixed this, as did swapping the receiver and USB cable to different ports, so I'll just keep using this until it (always) stops working. [Another edit]: I decided to just simplify things and use the Mini's USB adapter with one of the Dell monitors it plugs into. The USB port on the switch and the mouse receiver are now registered AND are physically further apart. I haven't had any problems now. Also, I switched the hotkey function to use scroll lock and for some reason it registers much more consistently than "fn" so I'm sticking with that as well.
