While I love the idea of bypassing those stupid new overflow cans (not leakproof), they just don't work properly. The spout mostly worked and I was able to use one of the new screw caps, but my other jar didn't work with either cap (guess I have one of those 5% that doesn't work?). Use the spout with the original cap so I figured I had a winner. Then I went to use drain plugs on the ends. Well, they don't fit (not even close). The spout covers are threaded but the spouts are not. The grommets are also larger in diameter than the caps, so you can't put holders on them even if the caps fit. Very annoying to say the least. In a typical foreign production, I have a bunch of parts that are no good. I've found that the caps (which fit into the screw caps that everyone throws away, because who takes the spout for shipping?) fit the ends of the spout, but there's no gasket and they'll pop out when the jars get hot and expand . . I didn't even bother with the vent plugs as all my jars are full and yes they need to be emptied before you drill them. I chose to keep them as I have a can that is almost useless with a 'safe' spout (Yes Midwest I'm talking about your garbage system that requires 3 hands and a wrench to use) , so I change the spouts for refilling, then put the diffuser nozzle back on for transport. By the way, NEVER EVER buy a can from the Midwest. The only way this company will learn is if we all stop buying their bespoke useless junk. Also, avoid this set as it just doesn't work like it should. Oh, and in case you're wondering why I didn't return the can, turns out you can't return the can if it has fuel in it (basically you don't know you have junk until you use it and you can't return it - hmmm not comfortable) UPDATE! The company contacted me and offered a partial refund! They processed it quickly and added an extra $1 on top of the suggested refund for my time. This is outstanding service! I also found 1 jar that they worked really well with (surprise - that's NOT a Midwest jar!) so I saved 1/3 on the order and got a 1/3 refund. No damage, no foul. The vents it contains can actually be used for a Midwestern nightmare. I installed one and now only need 2 hands and a wrench so they score up to 4 stars for functional ease of use and excellent customer service. If they change the spout cap configuration I will buy again knowing they stand behind their product. Excellent work!
