Review on Spectre Performance 9824 Intake Plenum by Charles Woods

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The only one that fits in the very narrow gap under the hood of my 1985 Corvette!

I was looking for an air cleaner that would fit in the narrow gap left by the previous owner when he replaced the stock TPI with a rather large carburetor. So far none of these have worked but this has been hard to find in air purifier stores due to conflicting information on the internet and very few reviews/poor descriptions of any product on the market. If this situation sounds familiar, here's for you: The overall height of the camera is just under 2 inches (excluding exits, which stay on the side and take up less side room); has 2 sockets of 4 inches each and comes with detachable black plastic plugs; The look is raw but I like it, sits neatly and cleanly and my hood closes without touching any of its parts. You can rotate it and change exit points/hose routes as needed. I installed it with a 1/4" o-ring aluminum adapter because the 2 bolts on top of the carb prevented it from seating properly on the carb, still fits with no problems. Currently working on filters, two cones. on the Photo just to make the photo look more promising not as I am now waiting for a 4" hose to try and attach a filter in front to get cold air where the stock air filter originally was. Tried with 1 cone and another closed outlet and my small block 5.7 V8 seems to breathe well, haven't noticed any change. The product is thin and light but its structure seems solid. So far so good, let's see how it works, when the whole intake system is done, but so far everything is fine, I can close the hood and get clean air. There are other versions with different exit angles made by the same company with a similar style worth a try and the price is reasonable.

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
