Mixed set - nice 'gadgets' but some software and screen issues

The laptop has some good points but also some problems. I bought one and returned it, but based on all the other rave reviews I decided to try another - and got similar results. He too was sent back. The construction was excellent, with superb looks and a great fit and finish. The keyboard backlighting was good - the keys were evenly lit. However, I found the key travel to be a bit "soft" and the right shift key tiny and dented. The sound from the speakers was good. The update went well. The screen was a deal breaker for me - and both suffered as a result. Where is the quality control located? Once turned on, the screen was reasonably bright, but there was a lot of light around the edges in dark areas. To me, that's unacceptable on a high-end laptop. My cheap $275 laptop with narrow bezels has fewer stripes. The colors were good except for the white balance - more on that later. I did notice that the laptop got very hot - even under light loads - and yes, the fans were running. Of course, this isn't a "laptop" - it needs to be placed on a cooler. The ScreenPad is a neat trick that takes some getting used to and using to its full potential. I've found that I can't remove certain "icons" from the tablet's home screen, e.g. B. "Sheets", "Slides" etc. which are not fully customizable. When used as a traditional touchpad, it felt smooth and performed well. Now we come to the last problem and the last reason for the return. Personally, I can't stand the default "blue filter" color balance that most laptops now ship with. For me, white should be white, not greenish/reddish. I found that after white balancing in the advanced settings, the settings were not saved on restart. I don't know if there was a conflict between the two monitors (Screen Pad is recognized as a second monitor) or some other software issue, but I had to constantly rebalance the colors. Again, this may not be an issue - or may not even be noticed by many users - but I don't think it's great for photo work, or not the best for natural-looking movies.
