I ran two water distillations to clean this still and both had a strong rubber/plastic taste coming straight from the worm, so strong the water was undrinkable. The shell smelled good, but the joints in the firing pin and screw smelled like the same plastic/rubber. The connecting hoses from the boiler to the striker and the auger appear to be nothing more than cheap water heater hoses, so I suspect the gaskets in those hoses couldn't handle the 212* steam temperature when distilling water. I asked the seller if this would go away and they assured me it would after a few runs, but after the second hour the bad smell/taste was still as strong as the first drop. The design is very user-friendly and it would be nice if it actually produced unflavored purified water, but it didn't get the job done.
