Review on Bestop 42701 01 Instatrunk 1997 2006 Wrangler by Brett Tierney

Well, in my life I have done many projects with both cars and houses. I'm not afraid of self-employment. But this thing pissed me off a little. Long story short I got it in a Jeep, it works as intended, the price is pretty good and I would recommend it. Long story: I assembled everything pretty easily in my living room (this part could have been done by a 5 year old). ), then went out to the jeep. The big problem with this design, and it's hardly Bestop's fault, are the weird "flare nuts" that have to be used. You just can't get into the fenders to use another regular nut like a nylon lock nut which would be much better but that's debatable. So it's necessary to install those weird flare nuts that require force to hold them in place and then tighten them at the same time. I messed up one of them and had to pull out the fender liner and reach in to manually hold the nut in an odd position I call 'jeep yoga' when I realized Covid was draining all of my core strength from my stomach had stolen. After nearly passing out and getting some new scars on my forearm, I manually installed the final cap nut from inside the wing. I know you're reading this PREBUY and wondering what I'm talking about, but you'll see. Once I install the flare nuts, tighten the 4 bolts and the thing goes nowhere. Your back door acts as a lockable access door to this 'locker'. Can someone get in your convertible jeep and rip that thing off the roof, or maybe reach out and maybe grab something down there and scratch the hell out of your hand in the process? Of course. Anything is possible, but I'm confident that this thing will protect some of my belongings that I don't want to steal (some tools, tow straps, etc.). Of course, don't put firearms, gold, and jewelry in it overnight. Overall, this maximizes the small space between your back seat and the tailgate, allowing you to keep things away from the dregs of society.
