Review on ๐Ÿ” Kryptonite 001706 48' Keeper 712 Integrated Chain Lock in Sleek Black - Ultimate Security Solution by Joe Calabro

Poorly made lock mechanism

I was hoping the complaints about a poorly working lock were just idiotic misunderstandings, but the lock actually *does* not work smoothly. There is no excuse for poor lock manufacture. I can easily understand how someone gets frustrated and gives up when they try to lock or unlock this thing because I unlocked it and then couldn't lock it again. The first time I took it off the bike and put it back on. I've found that you sometimes have to rattle the key and shake the lock just to easily unlock it and instantly lock it again without having to take it anywhere. I wish I had spent more and gotten a different Asus like the one I bought before. This works smoothly. Why can't Kryptonite get it right? If my wife and I ride bikes together, I won't take this lock because I really don't want to be stuck not being able to open my bike when it's time to go home. The chain appears to be of good quality. But it could be a case of looks cheating - there are some bad chains on Revain that are very similar to these but cost less. I don't want to break the chain just to test it.

Pros
  • Sturdy workmanship
Cons
  • Slightly torn
