Review on Dynomax 17517 Ultra Welded Muffler by Tom Plowman

Works great at 7.3 to muffle exhaust after straight pipe riding

I replaced the factory muffler through a replaced straight pipe, it was too loud. I modified the muffler slightly but welded a 3 1/2 x 6 sheet metal plate inside to control exhaust flow. An 18-gauge sheet metal plate with bent tabs to allow the exhaust gases to spin inside the core. This silencer is used behind the Y-pipe directly after the two-hole flange next to the transfer case and the drive shaft. Cutting the stock tubing was tricky, it is factory 3 1/2" 16 gauge stainless steel tubing. I tightened it up, I could have clamped it down with band clamps, but decided to do some welds. Can hear the difference in tone hard to believe, I can now speak in the cockpit, don't get me wrong, the 7.3 is loud, but at least now I only hear burning and normal diesel crackling.
