Hard to call it a vault or "place to store valuables". The side panels are made of wood and not even natural wood. rather thick cardboard made of wood pressboard. This allows the lock to keep the baby safe (which is handy for storing medicine, makeup chemicals, etc.). If an adult steps on the page or just hits it with a clenched fist, the page just explodes. It was disappointing that they listed the box material as "metal". It would be like saying my car is rubber because the wheels are rubber. I cut the deadbolt on the lock because I really didn't need a box that was "locked" and losing or losing the key would be dangerous. slight pain was present. Little pain as the lock is weak; I think they all have the same key. All written down, this is a cool looking and useful box. But let's not call it what it isn't.
