Review on Allstar Performance ALL68372 Pinion Yoke Wrench: A Must-Have Tool for Efficient Pinion Maintenance by Nate Eich

Better for light duty applications

I used this product to tighten a rear sprocket nut on a 2002 Ford Tour with a sterling 10.5 axle. I could do this job, but with difficulty. A good tool appeared as indicated. The instrument was well made. The bad plate is flat and was slightly larger than my transmission/axle flange. The elongated holes had to be drilled out to accommodate the flange screws. I had to use my lathe to cut some shims to fit behind the flange to create clearance between the flange and the wrench to allow the 1/2" drive breaker bar to fit fully into the yoke wrench. The nut on this gear can withstand about 275 ft-lbs to achieve desired resistance. I used a 3 foot 1/2" drive breaker in the wrench and left it on the bottom while I tightened the nut with a large torque wrench. When I had the resistance I wanted, I removed the breaker bar and found that the 1/2" drive slot in this wrench was almost ripped out of the platen, almost ripped off. I was able to complete the work with this tool but I think this was one and used. I think it would work great on smaller gear flange applications with lower torque requirements.
