I recently purchased two of these magnets. At first, I didn't think the magnet was very strong because things like my car keys and a pair of scissors didn't stick well. It was pick them up, but I could pull them off easily. I went fishing and the magnet got stuck up under a pier to the iron that was the foundation. I tried hard to pull the magnet off. After several attempts, the magnet came off the iron, but it also came off of the clip and flung into the water. The clip wasn't bent so I'm not really sure how it came off, but I was able to use the second magnet to find the first one after about an hour because of them repelling each other. Needless to say, the thicker the material, the stronger force the magnet has. It's a great price for the magnet and rope, but I think the clip could be better.
