You wouldn't think this would be hard to screw up, but I've had bad luck with leather honing wheels. This one is an exception. I've used it a bit, mostly with my own green compound over the included white. I had no skin peeling (that's 5 discs glued together). The wheel works correctly, which means the hole is well centered. This means that when you use the wheel, it won't hit or miss your knife/chisel/warp like an out-of-round wheel. Although easy to use, you can seriously injure yourself if you use it incorrectly. I stand sideways with the wheel nut facing me and use the top of the wheel to hone. Be careful again. One mistake turns what you're sharpening into a flying knife.
