• Pros: price, size, general quality, quick shipping, general versatility of the product as it can be used for a wide range of small animals, not only such a bird perch • Cons: the dowels are loose so need to fix them with wood glue and make sure the glue isn't where the animal can chew it, only 1 set of screws/bolts per side • GENERAL: a few small repairs and this is it GREAT buy for the item price ($5-6) and SIZE (a generous 7+ inches)! PROBLEM - WHY?, Purchased: I bought this wooden corner bass for my mother's cockatiel who for some reason falls out of her seat at night. Trust me, he has a million and one perches in the cage big enough for them to fly from side to side (which will give me a heart attack if I ever flinch!) so I wanted them to have enough space to sit securely and will not fall if she loses her footing or balance. I looked at every type of perch on Revain I could find, from squares of metal wire to pieces of wood over 4 inches wide to sharpening rods advertised as 3 to 4 inches wide to braided sockets, etc . until I finally stopped at one of them. this wooden corner bar. I chose this item because the listed size was 7 inches (seven inches) and it was made not from a single piece of wood but from several perch type wooden dowels so that the bird could easily grasp the wood with its feet , and the wooden dowels weren't very far apart though, so she could also support her chest/body on the wooden pegs without risk of falling through them. In other words, it must not fall or be caught between any part of that corner bar if it is standing on any part of it other than the very edge. Yipee!PRODUCT/QUALITY: I have to say that even though I read the description and knew the product is 7 inches wide, I was still pleasantly surprised at its size. Many other options had negative reviews complaining about the actual/final size of the product when shipped. This item is 7" wide and is 7" or wider! He could easily hold a guinea pig (IMHO) == SOME SMALL PROBLEMS :::1) BLOCKING, POOR SECURING: The wooden dowels that make up the first one are held in place with some glue. I've found that the wooden pegs that make up the corner bar have beveled ends that need to go into notches on each side and then look like they should be glued on; However, the dowels aren't really long enough to fit into the cutouts on the right side, so they basically just stick in place, which is fine, except the glue used isn't very strong, so any pressure (or weight) will cause the pin to snap out of place. I found this because I was trying to peel the tape and a piece of branding paper off the perch and apparently what I pulled on the tape was enough for the first wooden dowel to break out of the adhesive holding it in place, and when I inspected the pin, side slots and remaining bar pins etc, it was clear that they were all glued in place and none of them fit properly in the side notches/grooves as designed (too short). and the ends are indicated). This was an easy fix thanks to a small amount of wood glue (we used it in the slots to fill in the slots and give the wood dowels something to glue to and hold them in place. I RECOMMEND anyone buying this item to taking the time to inspect and then re-glue any loose or poorly fastened dowels, and then allowing the perch sufficient time to allow the glue to dry before installation, to ensure that any animal intending to use this perch , sure is to have a secure perch sit on it, and so it doesn't have a wooden dowel pulling out just because of its weight, much less standard wear and tear over time. 2) SCREWS AND BOLT, oh my! There are (2 screws, 2 twist knobs, 4 metal washers) in the package, while the item has 4 holes (2 holes on each side), and according to the assembly information, you need to place 2 washers outside, insert the screw, and then add the thumbscrews , to then hold everything in place. Whilst this sounds logical and simple, in my opinion there would need to be two more sets of kingpins, washers and thumbscrews which would of course make the perch more secure. From the looks of it you only have one set of screws/bolts per side leaving an empty screw/bolt hole on each side. So points for wasting those two existing screw holes on each side and making this perch more secure. Overall: overall a good quality item, with a few minor imperfections planned in the design; However, they cannot be easily overcome and corrected. Once you make sure the dowels are properly attached I think this perch will make a great addition to a bird or animal cage. (And I plan to add an extra screw and thumbscrew on each side as the drilled holes are already in place) SHIPPING/DELIVERY: Super fast shipping!, Ordered Saturday/Sunday and received it on Monday with free shipping, Thanks! The only complaint is that there was no documentation in the box, which was a plain Amaxon cardboard flap with a flap on top of the box that contained no packaging material; However, the item arrived in good condition and sealed in its original plastic packaging which included a small paper with assembly instructions on the back of the brand's product sales image.
