I needed this adapter to use a monitor I bought at a flea market. The monitor had a DVI output and a cable that came with it, but my PC's graphics card (GPU) only had an HDMI input. Just to be sure, I asked what I needed and it was confirmed that it would fit my needs. It really is like that. While it protrudes a bit and may not be the safest (avoid bumping into it), it's probably the best adapter you can find. I am completely satisfied with my purchase. Simple, cheap and does exactly what I need. I wouldn't leave it open in a direction where someone or something moves a lot as hitting it will likely dent components or break something, but my computer is leaning against a wall where it should and should be and I didn't have it any Problems. No blackouts, no bad contacts, nothing. Works great.
