Review on ✂️ Fiskars 94817797 Micro-Tip Scissors: 5-Inch Orange Blades for Precision Cutting by Kelsey Brown

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Made in China: Does not replace the original Fiskars made in Finland

Suitable for everyday use but a dismal shadow of the Fiskars made in Finland original. , both pairs I received are not as accurate as the originals. They have dots that overlap/overflow a bit - typical sloppy Chinese production - and the tips are slightly blunted. (In one pair, one tip is even slightly longer than the other.) As a result, each pair has a slight tear at the end of the cut. Also, unlike the original, they only taper when viewed from the side (as in the product photo), but when viewed from above (90 degrees from the photo) are of equal thickness to the tips and then roughly sanded at two sharp angles. The originals have been smoothly tapered in both planes, giving a precise tip for precise cuts and making it easy to see exactly where you're cutting. This makes these new models clumsy when cutting anything but straight lines, not very short or curved cuts, making them not very good at appliqué or cutting complex or precise paper shapes. The original scissors were ideal for this purpose, so I'm keeping them now and just using the new ones for basic trimming. This is disappointing; sad to see the demise of a brand of outstanding quality and utility.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • weak

Chinese made: no substitute for the original Fiskars made in Finland
