A few months ago we bought a new Samsung fridge and the water filter change light came on. I checked out Samsung's branded filters and wasn't surprised to find that they cost around $50 each. We had no problem getting filters from other manufacturers to replace our previous Whirlpool refrigerator, so I decided to give them a try. The filter worked without any problems. Some water came out when changing, but that was to be expected. I haven't read about running some water through a new filter and throwing it away before drinking it, but so far I've lived. The first dispense after changing the filter had some air and stop/start. No complaints.
