Review on Japanese Kotatsu 600w Metro Heater Replacement by Janet Tijerina

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Does what it says on the tin.

I received it and disassembled it to make sure it turns on. The control unit supplies the device directly with ungrounded mains voltage (120 V AC, USA). The connector from the control unit to the heater has three wires. properly connected, but the plug from the wall only has two wires. I haven't dug enough to be sure if the grounding device can be modified. The device is made entirely of sheet steel, with a rear panel and a grille on the front cover. Cloth, presumably this will help prevent burns. The fan is also sheet metal with no markings on either side and I didn't want to take it apart to the engine to find its ratings as it appeared to be pressed or glued. However, motors are very tolerant of abuse and can be operated at rated voltage for shorter periods of time. The heating element is simply a bent halogen bulb. For what it's worth, it's marked 100V 600W. Do what you want with it.

Pros
  • Nice
Cons
  • Good but not great
