Tried to make it work, lo and behold! After chatting with the company's website, they said it wasn't for the 1996 Tahoe. I haven't used the remote for 8 years or more. The dealer wanted too much money. I found an old remote that should have been for my Tahoe, it has a "backward" button. I gave them the # on it GM # 15731442 which I just googled and it came back as for 1996. I ordered AC Delco. Maybe you want to save time. Edit, burn AC Delco, it took about 10 seconds! Of course I had a paper clip right there and I did 7 test runs with a fake that didn't work on a 1996 Tahoe. AC Delco works well.
