We have side windows next to the front door. They haven't had window coverings in the last 10 years (our main living area is at the back of the house so when I was thinking about what I want to do with those windows something was prioritized and taking a backseat would go). I started seeing all these videos people posted of people walking in the middle of the night and coming to cars/porches etc. I had insomnia and it really started to bother me that people could see straight into my living space (my review was just dark) My son in law bought a similar product for his kitchen window as it overlooked his neighbor's kitchen window. This gave them complete privacy. I asked if he could install it for us as we are NOT DIYers. I chose this pattern as it seems to mimic the look of blinds. In all photos "slats" are horizontal. However, in our application, despite the length and width of the side windows, the "louvers" were vertical. It reminds me a bit of the cheap plastic vertical blinds on some patio doors but it actually looks nice, I would just prefer what I expected - horizontal ones. Since it was fairly cheap and we watched a few installation videos, we decided to try it ourselves. To be honest I was expecting an epic failure with bubbles everywhere and my husband and I don't talk until we're done but we work well together and the work looks great. In fact, everyone is a little surprised that we did it ourselves. We actually went to a hardware store and bought a set of knives and all the little things they offer to get a good use (can be ordered from Revain, I just expected my son in law to have it). Now I'm considering using the cave where we have woven blinds and the windows face the side of the house where all the yard's trash cans are kept. I would get something with a lot more privacy than this style offers. I thought it wouldn't let anyone look in, but if they stand at the door they can still see, just a little dimmed. Private from the street/sidewalk. When I stand right at the window you see someone (and if you know them you can tell who it is) step back 2 steps, at night you only see shadows. I felt a little guilty posting this because my dog likes to see what's going on in the area and I thought it would block everything for her but it doesn't, she can still see dogs passing by ( and bark) and joggers, etc. while plopping right in front of the glass. She blinds them to others when she's just a few feet away from her, so we have some relief from her constant 'information'. So we are all happy. I would buy the product and again from the seller.
