Tried them on my 1970 Beetle. In the end, after two months, I replaced them with the TRW brand. They were very tight from the start and never relaxed. Once installed in the torsion arms, these hinges barely moved. Once fully assembled, turning the steering wheel became a chore. It had to be turned a lot and after 2 months of use there was no sign of loosening. From what I've read these links are too big for the torsion armholes and once installed they compress and tighten. With the spindle removed, I couldn't move them by hand. I had to hit them with a rubber mallet to make them move. I took them off and threw them away. If you are looking for new suspension ball joints for your VW, I recommend the TRW brand (JBJ654 and JBJ653). They are available on Amazon and work much better.
