Although I'm not an engineer, I'm very practical. I thought tying a longer cable/cable housing to a new set of Jones H-bars would be a quick job until I accidentally ruined the top spring on my SRAM Apex 1 trigger derailleur by pulling out the old cable (still not sure, if I did it). ). spoil). I couldn't figure out why it wasn't working properly, so like an idiot I disassembled everything to start over. A BIG mistake on my part and after several agonizing hours of searching and watching YouTube trying to restore I gave up. Maybe my fingers are too fat or my motor skills have deteriorated over the past few years, but I couldn't properly install the spring that holds the downshift lever. Bought a replacement for $29, noticed the shifter cable was already threaded into the derailleur (now I know why!), pulled the cable and cable housing and hooked it up within 10 minutes. I should have just bought a new derailleur (again that includes the cable) and a new tether housing separately. Smooth and quiet operation - the new switch works great.
