I wanted to connect two external monitors to my iMac, but it only has one Thunderbolt port. It seemed like a good decision. I was about to send this thing back because at first I couldn't get it to work with my mid 2011 iMac with High Sierra installed, but after some research I figured it out. My Mac only has USB 2.0 FYI. New High Sierra drivers are available on the Displaylink website. However, you need to follow additional steps in their article at Support & Knowledge Base -> Mac OSX Troubleshooting -> macOS High Sierra: Video Not Enabled. You need to "allow" the privacy setting in OSX for the device to work. Now it works great. I use it for programming, not video or anything like that, but I'm impressed with how well it works. Some low-contrast colors are a bit fuzzy, but that's okay. In this window I start my terminal. YouTube videos play well. There's probably 10-20ms of input lag and the frame rate is a bit low (maybe 30fps?), but it's not even noticeable for the type of work I'm doing. Very happy with it.
