Ideal for thick or thin drinks. Yes, they're pretty rigid, 9 inches long, 1/2 inch in diameter, plus one end that's bevel cut. Nobody mentioned it, but it prevents the straw from sticking (sucking) to the bottom of the glass, mug, etc. I wish I had an aluminum straw made the same way and with the same diameter. I can drink milkshakes and other thick drinks and my eardrums don't collapse from the suction. They are individually wrapped and well made. They're good enough, I'll order more. I have 1/4 inch aluminum straws that I like for thinner drinks, but they have straight edges on the ends and sometimes suck to the bottom of my favorite mug. I recommend them for most thick drinks as well as liquid ones.
