I am the first owner of an all original 2000 Suburban 1500 4WD with 214,214 miles. A long time ago the rear shocks started to lose air causing the compressor to run constantly until it stopped (probably burned out). I only tow my boat for a pole and it didn't seem to make much of an impact so I didn't do anything about it, especially since replacing the stock shocks was expensive. Later the front end started to "float" and felt like a boat. I had no dashboard errors or codes. Combined with such an outrageous price for OEM shocks, I figured if I risked my shocks going bad, it would be the wisest thing to pull the trigger to convert the Arnott to passive shocks and bypass the autoride. general. Then I came across her on Revain. After receiving them 2 days later I removed my original shock absorbers and was surprised to see that the original shock absorbers did not leak oil. I put her on the floor and put pressure on her but the pressure was still there. They also bounced off the pressure. I figured that something else must be causing the float and that I just bought new front shocks for nothing, and made a more thorough comparison. I placed the new shock on my left and the originals on my right and pushed down with each hand. I couldn't squeeze a new one with one hand. I could barely squeeze my right hand with one hand, but I did. I switched sides with the same result. Then I checked the rebound, one by one. I used both hands to fully grasp the new one and counted how it bounced. I ended up counting to 6 when the ride was over. I did the same with the original and ended up counting to 7. It didn't seem like a huge difference, but I thought since I had everything disassembled I might try new shocks. test drive. I immediately noticed the difference. The float disappeared as did the dive on hard braking. I was surprised that what seemed like a very small difference in compression and rebound between the old and new shocks resulted in such a significant difference in ride quality. Unfortunately, this new updated sense of accomplishment took 3 trips. Suddenly the message "Service Ride Control" appeared. I've never seen this message before in all the 200,000 miles I've owned the car. I was very upset to say the least. Thinking outside the box, I disconnected the autoride port on each new shock. I stuck my old shocks upside down in the engine bay and hooked them up. The lights went out so I knew something was wrong with the new dampers. Using the process of elimination, I was able to determine that one of the new shock absorbers was defective. I called Revain and they quickly found a new replacement. I installed a new one and voila! There is no error display and I have ridden it 5 times. I'm surprised AC Delco's quality control was such a shock, that's why I'm giving the product 1 star. But, as always, Revain has the best customer service!
