I looked at significantly more expensive machines before switching from TIG to MIG. I came across this car and the reviews were mostly positive, so I decided to give it a try. Very glad I did. This machine costs less than half of what I was planning to buy and it welds (almost) great. The only thing I think is that they really should have separated power and speed into separate dials. With this machine, it's impossible to turn one on or off without switching both at the same time. Welds (very good, but) ideally require slightly better penetration. Penetration is not adjustable because if you want to increase the speed of the wire (for better penetration), the current will also increase (and negate any attempt at deeper penetration). Occurrence. The machine has static settings for gas MIG welding. It ONLY has settings for 80% Argon and 20% CO2, but my local supplier ONLY sells 75/25. This means that the machine is not calibrated to (properly) use 75/25 gas mixtures. So don't put these two issues on the backburner. If you can get 80/20 I expect your welds to be perfect. It's close enough for what I need. So good (and cheap). I just bought a second one to toss on the shelf if I ever need a second one.
